Top Tips to freshen up your home for Spring

Spring is a time to celebrate new life and growth. It awakens our senses and makes us feel more energised after a long, cold and dark winter. Glimpsing the first daffodils is a pleasure; waking up to the dawn chorus of birds loudly chirping is nature sending us a message that it’s time to prepare for warmer and lighter days and nights ahead. For millions of us, our primeval instincts take over; we don’t really know why we do it, but we are naturally driven to tidy and de-clutter! So, let’s take a look at how you can freshen up your home and herald the Spring.

Allow the light in

As the sun streaks in through the windows, you can see the dust motes in the air. All winter these have been present, you just can’t see them as easily. So, dust all around your main surfaces, but don’t forget the little corners! Also, your window panes and frames will have gathered dust, too, so give these a wipe down. A really simple way to alter the look of your room to freshen it up is to change your curtains or blinds to a lighter, brighter fabric. They’ll look even better on clean, sparkling windows. Why not add some matching, or complementary-coloured, cushions or rugs to complete the fresh look.

Change the wintry ‘feel’ to something lighter

It really depends on your budget as to how far you want to refresh the look of your home. Some people are switched off from doing it as they think it will cost them a lot of money; this really isn’t the case. Also, at the end of the summer, as winter draws near, just store it all away and it can be used again next Spring! A good, cost-effective idea is to have one darker set of fabrics and accessories for the winter months, and one lighter set for the warmer months. You could change the look and feel of your home in just a few hours by changing the curtains (or blinds), cushion covers, rugs, lampshades and a throw for your sofa or chair, and your bed. Don’t forget the bathroom – change towels to a lighter shade, and if you use a bathmat, or shower curtain, change those to a co-ordinating colour, too.

Add some scent

You could have fresh-smelling aromas around your home by adding scented candles or diffusers giving a welcoming, fresh, clean feel to it. Candle holders can be used to match the colour schemes around your rooms.

Throw open your doors and windows and welcome Spring into your new-look home!

Great service and fast delivery. Easy to deal with

Great price. A problem with the website when reported was sorted quickly, Cheryl was extremely helpful. Very speedy service and was delivered three days after ordering. I would definitely use the company again if I needed another item.

Cheryl at Fircroft is amazing, she's so helpful & really goes that extra mile to help. She provided delivery dates & times & was more than happy to exchange the rugs for different colours. I would, without hesitation, purchase from Fircroft again. Massive thank you!
